Yoga Teacher Training with Julie, Kerry and Kabir
in Tusket (near Yarmouth) and Annapolis Royal, Nova Scotia

What makes this 200-hour YTT unique?

This is a yoga of stillness, of going inward and really sensing what’s happening in your body, on all levels, not just physically, but also emotionally, mentally, spiritually. This hatha yoga is not what it looks like from the outside, but how it feels from the inside. Participants are invited to explore their own yoga path, to grow personally and learn to guide others from a heart-centred approach. We will learn yoga postures step by step, one by one, and how to lead a slow and steady yoga class with confidence and compassion, including all other elements such as centering, breathing, meditation & relaxation and modifications & assists for limited bodies.

Julie (E-RYT 500, B.E.S, M.E.S) has a long history studying & teaching Kripalu yoga, which means compassion. It’s a practice of open heartedness and self–acceptance. As a result Julie seeks to make yoga accessible to all through modification of poses, use of props and offering chair yoga to seniors and those with challenged bodies. Since 2009 she has trained many others to become chair yoga teachers. Since 2011 she has been involved in a 200-hour teacher training.

Kerry (E-RYT 500) has had 10+ years of studying the true origins of yoga in India, teaching in schools and prisons in India, as well as leading groups there. She attended the Krishnamacharya Yoga Mandarim in Chennai, India three separate years, as well as Kaivalyadhama Yoga and Ayurveda Research Institute in Puna on three other separate occasions. Kerry also has 10+ years working in the Canadian Arctic teaching Yoga to and with Inuit youth-at-risk in schools and adults in prisons. Kerry is one of 7 international teachers featured in the major motion documentary "Planet Yoga".

Traditional Yoga was a part of Kerrys life since childhood as her Mother was a Yoga student and teacher, studying under the lineage of Krishnamacharya in the 1960’s and 70’s. Kerry has been teaching Yoga for over 25 years, giving workshops and certifications in 200 hour hr courses. She is a graduate of the Therapeutic Approach 500hr YTT as well as over 2000 hours of certification of many other lineages in North America and India. Kerry heads the Yoga portion of the Anjali Ayurveda NS clinic in Yarmouth, NS. She also will begin leading groups to the Body Holiday Yoga and Ayurveda Spa in St Lucia in the Caribbean this winter.

Kabir’s (CYT 200) involvement as an Indian yogi & chef who grew up absorbing mantra, all aspects of Yoga and the Ayurvedic way of life. Thus this YTT emphasizes an authentic Indian approach to Yoga through chanting, meditation & spirituality. His magical traditional folk flute playing coupled with traditional mantra allows us to experience the deepest, most relaxing savasana possible.

Jeannines passion for yoga spans over a number of years, she has been practicing yoga since the 70’s and teaching for over 15 years. Jeannine has completed her 200 hour yoga teacher training at the Therapeutic Approach Yoga Studio in Halifax and her 300-hour yoga teacher training certification at the Himalayan Institute in Honesdale Pennsylvania. The Himalayan Institute is a leader in the field of yoga, meditation, spirituality, and holistic health.
